New study shows and hour and a half can go a long way in saving someone’s life.
People who recognize their stroke symptoms and receive treatment within 90 minutes can lead to a reduced risk of permanent disability, according to a new study.
The American Heart Association encourages people to remember the FAST acronym in order to recognize stroke symptoms: Facial drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call 911.
The association also states that strokes are the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. and the number one cause of disability.
The faster doctors can treat the condition, the sooner blood flow to the brain can be restored and avoid permanent damage.
