How to Beat a Cold
It's that time of year-- sniffle here, cough there, and before you know it, the common cold has caught your immune system under its nasty spell. There's a workout for that, though.
The 'when' and 'where' you choose to exercise while caught in a common-cold spell can make all the difference in the world.
If symptoms are primarily above the neck, go ahead and break a sweat by jogging, swimming, biking, or whatever else you may choose for a cardiovascular routine.
The thing to avoid, though, is weight training. From lifting weights to playing team sports [you don't want to spread those germs], it's best to stick to the solo practice away from endurance exercises until the congestion has cleared. Yoga is also a great alternative.
When your body is already under lots of stress, pushing it further isn't the best choice. Compromise with your well-being when under the weather. Choose walking or jogging over running if your energy levels are low.
Do you skip the gym when you're feeling ill?
