"Basketball Wives" Producers Fire Back at Jennifer Williams

Producers allegedly plan to sue Williams for "destroying the brand."

”Basketball Wives” producers are playing tit for tat with Jennifer Williams. Williams, who recently filed a lawsuit against Nia R. Crooks for slapping her, can be seen in a clip of "Basketball Wives" for the April 30 episode telling Kenya, “I fight like the white people do,” in explaining why she decided to go to the authorities. However, looks like the “white people’ are striking back.

According to TMZ, Vh1 producers were pissed that Williams filed a motion behind the incident and are preparing to take their own legal action against Williams for going on a media rampage. Williams blasted “Basketball Wives,” alleging that the show portrays African-American women negatively.

According to TMZ’s sources, producers feel that Williams' is ruining the brand and that her show-bashing is in violation of her contract -- which forbids cast members from doing any media appearances or press without approval, or speaking negatively about the show.

It sounds like everyone is salty with Jenn for not slapping back and keeping it moving. It’s a catch 22, because when people sign up for shows like this they sign their lives away. I know from experience. I made an appearance on another popular reality show that airs on Vh1 and had to sign my life away. The type of scene that I was in didn’t really put me in danger but then again, you never know. In my case I was interviewing one of the cast and there was a slight chance that I might ask her a question that she didn’t like and bam, she tries to fight me. That didn’t happen, but producers always have to have their bases covered. Jenn obviously signed a contract that clearly relinquished production for the blame in the event that anything harmful happened to her but I guess she just got fed up.

I wonder how this is going to play out. Technically, Nia did assault Jenn but if Jenn went into taping “Basketball Wives” knowing that something like this could happen, would the judge still honor the case? Your guess is as good as mine. But it looks like this is about to get 10 times more ugly.

Do you have sympathy for Jenn? Should she have just taken the slap and kept it moving?

Did Jenn destroy the brand?
