Kim Zolciak's Spinoff Delivers

After 1.4M watch premiere episode, will this RHOA go solo?

Change is afoot for the “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Sheree won’t be returning to the show and Kim Zolciak is proving that she can actually hold her own as a spinoff “star.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Don’t Be Tardy For the Wedding” premiered to 1.55 million viewers.

Bravo debuted the series with back-to-back half-hour episodes. 1.4 million people tuned into the 9 p.m. airing with 691,000 in the 18-49 audience. Its second half-hour episode improved on its lead-in with 1.7 million total viewers and 865,000 in the ad demo.

So, even if you did watch just out of sheer curiosity, you contributed to raising Zolciak’s profile and probably the possibility of a Kim Zolciak spinoff. If this happens then Kim will follow in the footsteps of “RHNY” star Bethenny Frankel. It’s probably a little too soon to say, but I wouldn’t be surprised. At the moment she says that she will return to “RHOA” if Bravo picks up a season five.

“Don't Be Tardy for the Wedding” follows Zolciak as she plans her multi-million dollar wedding to Kroy Biermann. The series airs on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. on Bravo.

In other news Kim secretly misses her friendship with NeNe. She recently appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” and revealed various details of her life. She talked about how Ariana’s father cheated on her when she was seven months pregnant, which is what split up the marriage, and gushed over Kroy. But eventually Wendy asked what everyone has been asking Kim for months: “What would it take for Kim and NeNe to be friends again?” And Kim actually gave a thorough, well thought out response.

“Honestly, NeNe doesn’t have the tools to communicate effectively. I’ve fought with my girlfriends and you disagree but you can’t get loud and violent, that’s a problem,” she said. “If she had the tools to communicate effectively then I’d probably sit down and have a conversation.”

Well said, Kim, and there wasn’t even shade attached. Kim seems to be in a better, more grounded place. She’s still nutty and uber materialistic but it’s obvious that Kroy’s presence in her life is grounding her a bit. However, the real interview would be with Kroy about becoming a dad over not. Once he stepped into the relationship with Kim he also inherited Kim’s teen and pre-teen daughters, but he’s still very young as well. He has shown that he’s mature enough to handle the task thus far, but I’d love to get his take on what it felt like to jump into the situation. Better yet, maybe this is something we’ll eventually watch play out on TV.

How do you feel about Kim Zolciak, are you loving, liking or hating “Don’t Be Tardy For the Party?”

Should she get her own show?
