Laura Govan Chats Legacy, Entertainment Value of Reality TV
1 year ago
Laura Govan has begun taping "Basketball Wives: LA."
In more “Basketball Wives” news, Laura Govan from “Basketball Wives LA” landed a feature in Edge Magazine’s summer issue. In the new issue, Govan dishes about motherhood and raising her children. In addition to being a mom, Laura talks about her fiancé Gilbert Arenas (Memphis Grizzlies) and of course, “Basketball Wives: LA,” which is currently filming its 2nd season.
On Reality TV Drama
"The show is produced. Sure, the cameras are always on but of course they’re not going to show me changing my son’s diaper or watching a movie at home with the kids after having just cooked dinner. The reason being is because that wouldn’t be entertaining. The show was created to be entertainment and so that’s what you get."
On Catering to Her Family
"Probably how domestic I am. I cook dinner for my man and my children every night, do the laundry, drive the kids to school, etc. I really am a modern day housewife."
On People’s Perception of Her
"The biggest misconception would be that I’m a bully and I’m always trying to fight with someone. I’m a very nice person and the only time I have problems is when someone takes my kindness for weakness."
On Her Legacy
"That I was a hustler. I didn’t stop. I didn’t quit. I want my legacy to be that everyone who knew me loved me and was proud of me."
Everyone who fights and has appeared to be aggressive on reality TV loves to say that they’re actually really nice and that the only reason that they engaged in such behavior was because someone took their kindness for weakness, tried to play them, etc. I like Laura Govan but she looked like a bully at times on “Basketball Wives LA,” like when she beat up Draya in the boxing ring (yes they were boxing but Laura said she was going to go as hard as she could because Draya got on her nerves) and when she tried to come for Malaysia Pargo by calling her a rat, which lead to them fighting. In subsequent interviews Govan said that it was her sense of humor that got misconstrued but the truth is she seemed abrasive and that’s why people labeled her a bully.
But anyway, she does seem well adjusted despite how she came off. Hopefully we’ll get to see that in the next season of “Basketball Wives LA” but I doubt it.
