Afghan villagers who escaped a March massacre in a village there have testified that they saw only one U.S. soldier during the attack. Army Staff Sgt. Robert Bales is accused of killing 16 villagers, with government prosecutors saying that Bales acted with “chilling premeditation.” Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for what they say involved two attacks on one bloody evening in March. The witnesses testified at the hearing taking place in Washington State via a video link from Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan.
