Child dies after getting hit in wild shootout

Sounding like something out of an Above the Rim sequel, 4-year old Lloyd Morgan was shot and killed at a weekend basketball tournament in the Bronx.

Witness attending the first annual "Ghetto Angels" basketball tournament in the Forrest Houses community say that the day was going great until two men on the courts started arguing. One of them pulled out a gun and started firing. The other pulled out his gun and did the same, with one of his bullets hitting Morgan.

Two other men were shot in the arm and stomach, both are expected to survive.

In a twist of sad irony, the "Ghetto Angels" tournament was founded to honor the memory of a 15-year old girl who was stabbed to death in the neighborhood last year.

“The basketball game started on the wrong foot,” says State Assemblyman Eric Stevenson (D-Bronx). “It’s a bad name of a team for starters.”
