The easier it is to make your life experience count, the easier it is to go back
What do you do when you’re pushing 40 without a college degree? You find a college that will take your previously earned credits, standardized exams, online courses, workplace and military training experience and fashion it into a degree or a certification. That’s the name of the game right now, for older students looking for ways to advance in the workplace. With student debt well passed the $1 trillion mark, some college are finding was to get you in and out with an associate degree for about $5,300. Other institutions are pumping out certifications in subjects that they’re known for. Thomas Edison, New Jersey’s second-largest public college, had the highest pass rate on the exam for certified public accountants in the state. Charter Oak State College in Connecticut and Excelsior College in New York are experiencing the same kind of success with their students. (New York Times)
