Al Sharpton on MSNBC Is #1 Among Black Viewers
The Sharpton experiment pays off
After being regulated to radio and the occassional appearance on The Daily Show or Bill Maher, Al Sharpton was finally let loose on the small screen this year and the experiment seems to have worked.
Ratings via TV Newser says that Sharpton's show PoliticsNation on MSNBC is officially a smash, beating out its competitor, CNN's John King USA by 50% among total viewers.
Among African Americans Sharpton pulled in 41% of total viewers.
Were going to assume that the rest of that number is watching neither, but BET's 106 & Park instead. Hard to imagine more blacks watching Anderson Cooper's twin more than Sharpton.
These stats are a pleasant surprise for MSNBC who originally slated Sharpton as a temporary replacement for Cenk Uygur. In addition to the winning numbers from Sharpton, MSNBC also moved ahead of CNN as the #2 cable news network
