Forward punched glass protecting fire extinguisher following loss.
The New York Knicks have officially gone into meltdown mode.
Following their game 2 loss to the Miami Heat in the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs, the Knicks frustrations boiled over to the locker room.
Star power forward Amare Stoudemire was so incensed after the 104-94 loss that he punched the glass protecting a fire extinguisher.
The result — a laceration that can cut him and the Knicks out of the playoffs.
“Amar’e has a lacerated left hand,’’ the official said. “He is being tended to.’’
While Amare's status for Game 3 has yet to be determined, he was seen leaving American Airlines Arena with his arm in a sling.
In addition to the Stoudemire temper tantrum, numerous Knicks players skipped their required media sessions and went straight to the team bus, which will surely earn them fines from NBA Commissioner David Stern.
