Anti-Gay Teen Bullying On The Decline [Study]

It really does get better for LGBT youth over time

Good news for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender teens that are being bullied at school – it really does get better. According to the first long-term study on how the problem changes over time, there has been a dramatic drop in the percentage of gay teens that report being bullied. The seven-year study involved more than 4,000 teens in England. The teens were questioned yearly through 2010, until they were 19 and 20 years old. At the start, over half of the 187 LGBT teens said they’d been bullied. By 2010, that dropped to 9 percent of gay and bisexual boys and 6 percent of lesbian and bisexual girls. Researchers said the same results likely would be found in the U.S. (Associated Press)
