Attention Winos! Trader Joe’s Raises Price of ‘Two-Buck Chuck’
Popular wine now to be called “inflation chuck” or “upchuck.” Zing!
The popular cheap wine known as “Two-Buck Chuck,” or the “Charles Shaw” collection, will need a new name when its seller, Trader Joe’s, raises the price. How about “inflation chuck” or “upchuck?” The California-based grocery store chain will raise the price from $1.99 to $2.49. Trader Joe’s sold about 5 million cases of the wine last year. The price increase came after the wine’s maker, Bronco Wine Co., had crop years in 2011 and 2012. (Associated Press)
