Aurora Shooting Victims' Families Invited to Visit Theater Again
7 months ago
Construction on the venue to begin soon
The families, witnesses and surviving victims of this summer's tragic Aurora, Colorado theater shooting have been invited back to the cinema. The District Attorney's Office sent an email to them asking if they wanted to visit the venue before construction starts. The theater has been closed since the shooting, but plans to reopen are scheduled for the end of the year. A Facebook survey was conducted by the city asking what should be done with the building; the majority of respondents supported its reopening. On Thursday, the memorial site that was created across the street from the theater was closed. The items left at the site - candles, crosses, flowers - were sent to a warehouse where victims' families still have access to them. The email recipients have until Friday to respond to the inquiry.
