Binge Drinking Among Women Hits Alarming Rates

High schoolers also show risky behavior
Women, especially girls, are binge drinking at alarming rates, according to the CDC. A new report says one out of every eight women binge drinks, and does so an average of three times a month. Among high school girls that rate increases to one in five. Binge drinking for women is defined as consuming four or more alcohol drinks, such as beer, liquor or wine, at one occasion, and it was found to be most common among women 18 to 24, and in white women with a household income over $75,000. "Over the past decade the rate of high school boys drinking has fallen, but the rate of high school girls has stayed pretty much constant," CDC Director Thomas Frieden said. (ABC)
