Black Friday: Gun Sales Reached An All-Time High
6 months ago
Stats show increase in female gun buyers.
While most of the country was standing in line fighting over 45-inch flat screen TVs to put in their homes, some people busy buying .45 caliber pistols.
Business Insider reports:
For the second consecutive year, prospective gun buyers joined Black Friday shoppers in record numbers as firearms dealers swamped the FBI with required buyer background check requests. The FBI fielded 154,873 calls, a roughly 20 percent increase from last year's previous one-day record of 129,166, according to bureau records.
Gun store owners are attributing the sales spike to an increase in female gun owners and fears of President Obama planning to make gun laws stricter.
And people weren't just buying guns to keep in the glove compartment. The FBI reports that 62 percent of the background checks were for long guns.
