Substantial redesign of the social network’s News Feed aims to keep you glued
Distractions, distractions, and more distractions! Facebook on Thursday plans to announce a redesign of its News Feed. The makeover is aimed at keeping users glued to the social network and lure in more advertising dollars. Company executives say they want to make the New Feed more relevant for users. That could mean bigger photos, more videos and “more engaging ads,” founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said in a recent earnings call with Wall Street analysts. The announcement is scheduled to happen at the social network’s headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif. Facebook, of course, is concerned about the recent news that 61 percent of its one billion users had taken an extended break from the site. Users cited boredom as one reason, according to a survey by the Pew Research Center. (New York Times)
