Busy Person Ignoring Your Texts, Emails, Voicemails? Get Used To It
2 months ago
Survey finds busy people know you’re annoyed that they don’t respond promptly
Technology was supposed to make us all easier to reach. That is, until the “ignore” button was created for constantly preoccupied mobile phone users. Sure, it’s annoying when someone you’re trying to reach doesn’t respond to your emails, your texts and or your voicemails. A recent survey by the Pew Internet & American Life Project found that 39 percent of cell phone owners say they’re well aware you complain about their reply speed -- or lack thereof. A third of all cell phone owners say they've been told they don’t check their phones frequently enough. Communications experts say “the ignored” should accept that there could be a legitimate reason for the delayed response and that people have perfected the art of prioritizing whom to respond to first.
