Check out this video of BYU students showing their vast knowledge of Black History Month and black people period.
BYU student Dave Ackerman dressed up in blackface and went out on campus to ask students how they celebrate Black History Month. Most of of them, including the two black students he asked didn't seem to know when it was. Others said they celebrated by listening to Jay-Z, eating fried chicken and drinking grape juice (they probably meant to say purple Kool-Aid).
When asked who they thought were historical black people were, some said Martin Luther King, Jr. obviously. Some said Malcom X. One said 50 Cent.
The end of the video has a quote that says "fight ignorance with ignorance" but this may not be a fight worth fighting. Can you really expect students at BYU to know anything about black folks? Especially seeing how they treat the few that they do have.
