Chicago: Five Dead, 12 Wounded In Weekend Gun Violence
Second week in a row of violence in Windy City
Just days after nine people were shot in an eight hour span last Tuesday, gun violence in Chicago has reared its ugly head again.
This past weekend five people were killed and another 12 were wounded in shootings across the city.
Among the five people killed was 6-year old Aliyah Shell who was shot during what police believe to be a gang related drive-by attack on her home on Saturday afternoon in the Little Village neighborhood. Another deadly drive-by happened in Gresham when a 36-year old man was shot and killed at a block party. Three other men, all under the age of 25 were also killed in unrelated attacks.
A dozen other people were also shot this weekend in attacks, with some victims being shot on their own front porches. Some were drive-bys, others are suspected to be domestic disputes. The Chicago Tribune reports that victims suffered wounds everywhere from the head, legs, back, shoulder and in one case the face.
