Disgruntled Grad Student Suing Her Professor For Getting C-Plus

Lawsuit says the average grade cost her $1.3 million in lost earnings
How much are good college grades worth to you? For former Lehigh University student Megan Thode, B’s and A’s are worth at least $1.3 million. That’s how much she’s suing her former professor and the university for, claiming the C-plus she received in one course kept her from getting her desired degree and becoming a licensed therapist. The $1.3 million is what Thode claims she’s lost in career earnings. The university says her claim is meritless, but a Pennsylvania judge declined to dismiss the suit on Wednesday, ruling that there was enough evidence to continue. So, why did her professor give her a C-plus? Professor Amanda Eckhardt testified this week that Thode behaved unprofessionally in class and thus earned zero out of 25 points in class participation. That bumped her grade down one full letter. Ouch! Thode, an otherwise straight-A student, ended up getting a master’s degree in human development. Do you think she deserves the money she’s suing for?
