Private screening with no media will take place instead.
In an effort to be sensitive to the thoughts surrounding the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Conn., the Hollywood premiere of "Django Unchained" has been canceled.
The film which will have plenty of director's Quentin Tarantino's trademark violence in it will instead be viewed in private by cast, crew and family.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the tragedy in Newtown, CT and in this time of national mourning we have decided to forgo our scheduled event," said a spokesperson for The Weinstein Company.
