CNN host exposes ugly racist taunts he's received for his coverage
CNN host Don Lemon is not apologizing for his extensive coverage of the Trayvon Martin case — especially to the many racists who have bombarded him with tweets due to the coverage.
Lemon directed viewers this past Sunday to refrain from sending him incendiary tweets.
"Please don't send me any more tweets that by having this conversation, I'm a racist or a race-baiter," he said. "This is a conversation we all need to have, so relax on that."
Calling some of the responses "disgusting" and "ridiculous," Lemon read one of the tweets on-air.
"Don Lemon, you are a racist. You are fixated on this one issue over and over. We want to hear the news, not your personal agenda. Go work for BET."
Journalist Goldie Taylor, who was on the segment with Lemon, said she's been called the n-word for her coverage on Twitter; with one even threatening her life.
"I've been called the n word more, collectively, over the last 72 hours than I have my whole life," she said. "It is amazing to me what people will say with the anonymity of a tweet."
