New Facebook App Lets You Give Annoying Friend a Public Timeout

Enter 'Defriendtion'

A new free Facebook app allows you to give a detention note-like warning to any deserving friend. Though the social media site currently allows you to mute or unfriend people entirely, Defriendtion allows you to make the offensive party aware of their unwanted actions. You can choose how long of a “time out” you’re going to give them, and also post the warning to Twitter. The app doesn’t actually restrict your friends’ content in any way because Facebook won’t let third-party apps have that kind of control, but according to Chris Heller, the app’s creator, the program is for "everyone who wants to be able to ‘call out’ their friends for their annoying and sometimes questionable activities." He adds, "Defriendtion is the perfect way to let that person and all your friends know about it." (Mashable)
