After failed attempts to conceive, convicted killer carved fetus out of young mother-to-be
Annette Morales-Rodriguez, the 34-year-old Milwaukee woman convicted of killing a young mother-to-be and her full-term son, will be sentenced to life in prison on Thursday, The Associated Press reports. Prosecutors say Morales-Rodriguez kidnapped 23-year-old Martiza Ramirez-Cruz, carved a fetus from the young woman’s womb and tried to pass it off as her own. Morales-Rodriguez was reportedly distraught that she could give her boyfriend a son, had already pretended to have two miscarriages and was faking a third pregnancy when she abducted Ramirez-Cruz. Police found the victim’s body disemboweled in Morales-Rodriguez’s basement. She was convicted of two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, one for the young woman and one for the full-term fetus. Wisconsin doesn’t have the death penalty. (AP)
