Lawyer says client engaged in 'lawful conduct'
When celebrity sex tapes surface they become more famous. When a teacher’s sex tape leaks, they are fired.
Southern California junior high teacher Stacie Halas, who was fired for performing in a pornographic video before she was hired, is planning to fight her dismissal.
An attorney for the 32-year-old said Friday that she will "vigorously contest" the allegations against her.
Halas' lawyer said she did nothing wrong and engaged in "lawful conduct" in a "very vibrant" business for California.
Halas, who taught seventh and eighth grade science at Richard B. Haydock Intermediate School, had been on administrative leave since her appearance on the video surfaced last month.
Oxnard School District trustees voted Wednesday night to fire her.
Halas has 30 days to appeal the decision by requesting a hearing with an administrative law judge, the Associate Press reported.
