Automaker having biggest hiring spree since 2001.
American automaker Ford Motor Company seems to be on the up and up. After hiring more than 8,000 people in 2012, a year that also saw a 13 percent increase in sales, the car giant has announced that they plan to hire 2,200 salaried workers in 2013. The national unemployment rate remained at 7.8 percent in December 2012.
“We need more people in critical areas -- such as in a range of engineering activities, vehicle production, computer software and other IT functions -- to ensure we deliver the vehicles people want and value,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of the Americas, in a statement.
