Fordham University Students Write 'Nigger' on Black Student's Door

School took 9 days to come and paint over it
African-American students at Fordham University say they have had enough with the frequency of racial slurs popping around campus.
The latest occurrence happened last month when senior Melissa Wright came to her dorm room and was greeted by "nigger" written in permanent marker on her door.

The door was sanded over, but it wasn't completely repainted until 9 days later, which Wright says, is an example of how nonchalant the school is in regards to racist incidents.
The NY Daily News reports that just this past Friday another N-bomb was found carved into a patch covering a hole in the wall in the men's bathroom. Students say they have grown numb to these types of things because they happen all of the time, including incidents where a white student walked around campus in blackface for Halloween and racial epithets popping up on sidewalks frequently.
School officials insist that the blackface incident was handled immediately and that the epithet on the sidewalk was actually a white student's nickname and wasn't meant to offend anyone.

"Many within our community have expressed understandable concern over this incident,” wrote Jeffrey Gray, Senior Vice President for Student Affairs in a statement. “Staff, faculty, students and student leaders have expressed similar sentiments, which I will reinforce here: there is no place in our community for behavior of this nature.”
That statement isn't enough for some black students at the Bronx-based campus. At least 200 of them are planning a rally to demand that the school do more to combat racism on campus and beef up to support their "zero tolerance" claims.
