Photo released in pledge to make public documents available on defense website
George Zimmerman got “messed up” on the night he shot and killed 17-year-old unarmed Florida student Trayvon Martin. That’s evident in the color version of a previously-released photo depicting Zimmerman’s bloodied face and swollen nose, which were injuries he allegedly sustained in a struggle with Martin. The picture was taken on the scene the night of the fatal confrontation, according to Zimmerman’s lawyers. The 28-year-old’s legal team gained access to the high-resolution version of the photograph on Oct. 29 and said it plans to make all other public documents in the case available on its website, GZlegalcase.com. Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in Martin’s death and has pled not guilty, claiming her shot the teen in self-defense. His lawyers hope the photo will help convince a judge and or jury of that claim. Zimmerman is awaiting a June 10, 2014 trial date. (Huffington Post)
