George Zimmerman Suing NBC Over Trayvon Tape, NY Post Says

Lawyers name network news president and black reporter in complaint
Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman is reportedly suing the National Broadcasting Company over the network’s botched editing of a 911 tape, the New York Post’s gossip page revealed exclusively on Thursday. “Page Six” reports that Zimmerman’s attorneys have prepared a complaint against NBC and its top executives, naming news president Steve Capus and veteran reporter Ron Allen. (The reporter, an African American, was on the scene for the broadcast of “Today” and “NBC Nightly News” on March 27.) A misleading cut of Zimmerman’s 911 tape suggested he targeted the 17-year-old unarmed Martin because of his race. The tape was the source of national outcry over the Sanford, Fla., police department’s handling of the case. NBC launched an internal investigation of tape and reportedly fired the employee responsible for the misleading edit. (NY Post)
