The United Nations cites European production and U.S. drought recovery
Wheat bread. Wheat pasta. Wheat beer. Go ahead and stock up, as prices should be pretty low for some time, says the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization. The world is headed for the second largest wheat crop on record because of increased plantings in Europe and an improved outlook in the U.S., which has been recovering from harsh drought conditions. Production is expected to increase to 690 million tons. That’s up 4.3 percent from 2012, the FAO reported. Maybe now we can all comfortably afford partaking in the health benefits of eating wheat products. (Associated Press)
