Study: HPV Shots Don’t Make Girls More Promiscuous
7 months ago
No difference in sexual activity in vaccinated and unvaccinated girls, study finds
Girls who received the HPV shot that protect against cervical cancer did not become more sexually promiscuous, according to a study by the Kaiser Permanente health group. The researchers didn’t ask girls if they were having sex, but instead looked at their medical records to see how soon they sought birth control, tested for STDs and pregnancy or had become pregnant, after receiving the shot. Very few of the 1,400 girls in the study, who got the shots at age 11 or 12, had done any of the above things over the next three years, the study found. The girls were also no more likely to do those things when compared with unvaccinated girls. (Associated Press)
