Former NBA Star Jayson Williams Released From Jail

Williams completed 8-months of his 1-year sentence

Former NBA star Jayson Williams has been released from prison, according to the Associated Press.

The disgraced former NBA all star for the New Jersey Nets served 8 months of a 1-year-sentence for a DUI arrest in 2010.

Williams was jailed for swerving across four lanes of traffic before striking a tree in NYC. His blood alcohol level was .24, which is three times the legal limit.

He was jailed for 18 months before this sentence when he accepted a plea deal after shooting a man to death in 2002.

His manager said since he's been in jail he's attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, gone through counseling and taught Bible study.

“I am eager to see my daughters, my mother and siblings and make amends for what they’ve been through, the former New Jersey Nets star said through his manager. “Start my life over with God being first and in the center of everything I do.”

Williams had a six-year, $86 million contract with the Nets before a leg injury forced him to retire in 2000.
