How About No?! Judge Denies George Zimmerman’s Request For Trial Delay
3 months ago
In four months, Trayvon Martin’s killer will face a judge and jury
“What’s your issue?” That’s essentially what the judge in the Trayvon Martin case asked second-degree murder defendant George Zimmerman, when his request for a trial delay was denied on Tuesday. The trial will proceed as scheduled on June 10, said Judge Debra S. Nelson of the Florida Circuit Court. “I don’t see any of your issues to be insurmountable,” she added. What exactly are those issues? Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara, last week complained that they needed time to raise more money to hire expert witnesses for the defense. Zimmerman is accused of shooting and killing Martin, a 17-year-old unarmed Miami student, after the two fought in his the gated community where he was a volunteer watch captain. The judge’s decision came on what would have been the teen’s 18th birthday. (New York Times)
