Long, Low-Intensity Exercise May Be More Beneficial Than Vigorous

It may be more important to reduce your hours sitting throughout the day than it is to exercise vigorously at the end of it, according to new research. The study suggests that extended periods of low intensity exercise, like walking and simply standing, improved insulin and lipid levels more effectively than an hour of intense exercise. Evidence is growing that sedentary time is a health risk factor on its own, despite how much time is spent in the gym. In other words, sitting too much isn’t the same as exercising too little.
