Airport Cleaner Returns Lost iPad, $13K; Gives Away Reward, Too
4 months ago
Good karma should be coming his way
A cleaning service worker at a Florida airport found an iPad – with $13,000 in its case – and turned it in. He then received a small reward for doing so, but gave that away, too. Patrick Morgan, of Sunshine Cleaning Systems, was working an early shift at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport last month when he spotted the lost iPad case. "I opened it first, and I saw all the money, and I quickly closed it back up," he said. He then alerted authorities and the iPad owner returned to retrieve his lost belongings, handing $60 over to Morgan as a thank you. But Morgan gave that amount away too, some to a homeless woman at the airport and the rest to a struggling employee. On Wednesday, the Broward County Aviation Department presented Morgan with a gift and plaque; his employer also gave him $625, equivalent to a week of paid vacation. "It’s just a good feeling to know that I returned it and that's the bottom line. I wasn't looking for anything," he said. (NBC)
