Man goes on rampage at gas station, cashier shoots him

Condoms can protect you from a lot of deadly things, but bullets aren't one of them.

Michael Haynes II of Detroit walked into a BP gas station to pick up a pack of condoms late Saturday night, early Sunday morning, obviously en route to get some action. Like most things these days, the condoms were pretty expensive. Feeling disrespected by the price alone, Haynes started a shouting match with the cashier, demanding a refund or that he sell the condoms to him at a cheaper price.

When the cashier refused his haggling, Haynes went on a rampage and began tearing up property inside the store. The cashier then left from behind the register with his handgun and fired what was meant to be a warning shot in Haynes direction, hoping to scare him out of the store. Instead, he shot Haynes in the shoulder.

The assistant manager at the store says that the cashier didn't realize that he actually shot Haynes because he walked out of the store and hopped in his friend's car. Once in the car, Haynes was was taken to the hospital where he died moments later.

Detroit Police are currently investigating the matter and hoping that there is security tape of the incident. As of now, they are uncertain if any actually exists. Right now, the cashier is in police custody.

Detroit Local 4 News photojournalist David Klein tweeted that a small protest started at the gas station on Monday, which led to them closing down early. A sign on the door says they will be closed for the next seven days.
