George Zimmerman's Lawyer Mark O'Mara Wants Delayed Document Release

O'Mara fears for safety of witnesses

George Zimmerman's lawyer Mark O'Mara wants to delay the release of documents in the case of murdered, unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin.

O'Mara wrote on the new George Zimmerman website that he fears for the safety of witnesses who will be asked to speak at a future date in the case. Zimmerman's attorney also claims that he doesn't want a media frenzy directed at the witnesses.

Public records can be released 15 days after they have been requested by a defense attorney, according to Florida law.

Zimmerman's attorney said he would delay requesting those documents until he can file motions that prevent the release of witness names.

The murder by the neighborhood watchman of the 17-year-old Trayvon Martin has grabbed national headlines for months now.
