Mexican Smugglers Are Shooting Drugs Across Border With Cannons
6 months ago
Shooting dope takes on new meaning.
As the U.S. continues to crack down on drugs crossing the Mexican border, smugglers are being forced to come up with new ways to keep their enterprise thriving.
ABC News reports:
Border Patrol agents say they believe a pneumatic cannon was used to launch dozens of containers of marijuana over the border and 500 feet into Arizona on Friday. Eighty-five pounds of marijuana -- tucked into soup cans and then inserted into larger sealed containers -- were found in a field near the Colorado River in San Luis, Arizona.
In case you didn't quite catch all of that, Mexican drug smugglers are shooting drugs across the border with a big cannon.
Unfortunately for them, the tactic didn't work as whoever was supposed to pick up the packages show up late. By the time they arrived the packs had been picked up and turned in by a concerned citizen who happened to be outside at the time.
The contraband had an estimated value of $42,500 and is scheduled for destruction.
Guess you can say their plans are going up in smoke.
