Paul Royal latest victim in Miami gun violence.
Eighteen-year old Miami high school football standout Paul "PJ" Royal was packed to go to college and start a new life for himself, but it ended before he even set foot on campus.
Royal was gunned down outside of a friend's house Tuesday afternoon, making him the latest victim in a recent rash of random gun violence in the Miami-Dade area.
“He went to go pick up his friend to come back home and play PlayStation,” says his aunt, Latoya Perry. “He had just finished working out at the park and wanted to relax. He didn’t deserve this, he had a future.”
She continues, “Words can’t explain the void in my heart. All P.J. wanted was to get out of Miami and start his new chapter, a new life, a good life. He didn’t want to be a statistic — and that’s exactly what happened to him. How ironic.”

Royal had a full scholarship to attend Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, where he'd be playing football.
Witnesses say the two gunmen wore ski masks and ran away.
Police have made no arrests. No motive has been declared.
