J. Crew to Retire Michelle & Malia's Inauguration Fashions

They are doing so out of "respect for the family"

J.Crew is retiring items that First Lady Michelle and her daughter Malia wore at President Obama's inauguration Monday. "The lady day coat that Malia was wearing has been in our line for years, and we’ll continue that, but we’ll retire the color," said the company's creative director Jenna Lyons. J.Crew also designed Michelle Obama’s gloves and the rhinestone-studded belt she wore over her custom-made Thom Browne coat. “That belt was actually a sash. She fashioned it into a belt around the coat. We won’t rerun that. She did her own thing to that, and out of respect, we’ll let her have her that moment," Lyons said. (Today)
