Animosity believed to have stemmed from child's mental disabilities
A teenage girl died after allegedly being starved to death by her mother, according to the NY Daily News.
Markea Blakely-Berry, 16 years old and mentally disabled, was found dead at her home in Georgia on Friday, weighing 40lbs. (Left: She is pictured at a younger age)
Her 38-year-old mom, Ebony Berry, called her own father, before contacting the authorities, when she found her daughter unconscious and couldn't revive her.
Larry Stewart told Wood TV 8, "I got her off the phone. I said, 'You dial 911. Don't call me. Call me back and let me know what's going on with the child." But it was too late, Markea had passed by the time police arrived.

Berry's mother Cheryl Gore said, "[Ebony] hated her for some reason. We don't know. She punished her daughter. She didn't have to kill my grandbaby like that."
Family members say they found links to a group that encouraged hunger on Berry's Facebook page.
Berry was arrested, charged with murder and first-degree cruelty to children, and is being held without bond at Cobb County Jail.
