National Urban League Wants Nike To Reconsider LeBron Sneaker Price
9 months ago
Nike says price hasn't been set yet.
Yesterday the Wall Street Journal reported that LeBron James' newest sneaker would cost $315. Then it was revealed that price was for the Nike+ edition which would feature technology to track how high the user jumps. The "regular" version would cost a measly $180. Either way, people are disgusted by the reported prices.
So much that consumers are calling on the National Urban League to lean on Nike to change their ways.
"It's the consumer's choice after all, but it's insensitive to market a $300 shoe to kids and teenagers as people are going back to school and struggling to buy school supplies," said Urban League president Marc Morial. "This is not food, this is not rent, it's a single pair of sneakers."
Nike spokesperson Mary Remuzzi says they have yet to release the actual price of the sneakers.
