League and adidas hope fashion statement will spread.
Do you enjoy wearing basketball jerseys, but don't quite have the shoulders to pull it off? Well, adidas and the NBA have probably solved your problem.
Today, new jerseys for the Golden State Warriors were unveiled and they feature something that no other NBA basketball jersey has ever had before, sleeves.
Black History Month: Best Black Running Backs Of All Time?
"It was the right moment, the right team," said Lawrence Norman, Adidas' vice president of global basketball. "Even more important, the right city. When you launch something as innovative as this -- that will change the way the players look on the court and the way the fans support the team forever -- why not launch it in the most innovative part of the United States?"
The jerseys will be 26 percent lighter than regular jerseys and have a moisture-absorbing feature. The sleeves are made with stretch fabric that wrap 360 degrees around the shoulder to ensure full range of motion. The Warriors will wear them on the court for the first time on February 22 against the San Antonio Spurs.
