Needles Found in Delta Airplane Food

Passenger injured by needle found in turkey sandwich.
It's bad enough that most airplane food sucks, but this adds injury to insult.
Delta Air Lines is investigating complaints that turkey sandwiches served on four of their flights contained needles. All four flights were coming into America from Amsterdam and all of the sandwiches were prepared by the same catering company, Gate Gourmet.
Two people who bit into the sandwiches complained of feeling something poke them in the top of their mouths. They discovered the needles before swallowing their bites, preventing serious injury.

After those complaints, other flight staffs were alerted and two other needles were found on other flights.
The Georgia FBI has launched a criminal investigation. Both Delta and Gate Gourmet have also launched internal investigations.
Gate Gourmet was recently the subject of an Atlanta news channel expose on food safety. Cameras caught food sitting out uncovered and unattended.
