Doctors want to see more improvement.
Nelson Mandela will likely spend the Christmas holiday in the hospital as he continues to recover from a lung infection and gallstone surgery. Doctors told a South African media outlet that they are not yet satisfied with his progress. Presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj said that doctors have given no indication of when he will be discharged. Maharaj also dismissed rumors suggesting Mandela’s heath is deteriorating.
The 94-year-old former South African leader has a long history of health problems. He had surgery for an enlarged prostate gland in 1985, underwent seven weeks of therapy for prostate cancer in 2001 and was hospitalized early last year for an acute respiratory infection. (Eurweb)
