Pennsylvania kindergartner allegedly overheard talking about shooting friend with toy

The family of a Pennsylvania kindergartener dismissed from school for talking about a soap bubble toy gun is protesting her punishment and wants her record cleared, a family attorney said on Monday. The unnamed 5-year-old from Mount Carmel, Penn. was suspended on Jan. 10 after she talked about shooting her friend with a Hello Kitty Bubble Gun, said attorney Robin Ficker. The little girl told a friend while waiting for a bus: “I’m going to shoot you and I will shoot myself, and we’ll all play together.” An adult overheard the girl’s comments and reported them to the school. The toy gun in question shoots only soap bubbles and was not found on the girl. The family wants the school to issue an apology. He mother worries she won’t be able to transfer the girl out of the school because of the allegation of making terroristic threats on her record. The controversy around the girl's comments come more than a month after the shooting massacre at a Newtown, Conn. elementary school. (Reuters)
