Drunk Man Beaten by Cops After He Attempts to Grab Officer's Gun

Officers repeatedly hit Bariki Wiltz with baton.

The beating of a California man by Stockton police officers is now under investigation, according to News 10.

Bariki Wiltz, 34, was arrested after he resisted arrest and attempted to remove a firearm from a police officer.

Police claim that Wiltz was drunk at the time of arrest. A cellphone video captured by local store owner Cynthia Guerra showed Wiltz reaching behind the back of one of the officers.

"My sister screamed that he was getting the gun and there were so many patrons out here and we were nervous for that," Guerra said. "I said, 'He's trying to get your gun,' and then the officer reached back then forward and I saw him put his hand on the man's hand," Teresa Guerra said.

Wiltz then fled the scene and was later caught by officers in a chase and beaten repeatedly with batons.

"Videos don't lie," Guerra said. "What it shows is what actually happened, it is what it is."

The Stockton Police Department is now viewing the video to see if excessive force was used.
