Remote Internships Become New Trend
Internships.com reports a 20 percent increase in virtual roles over the last year.
It’s the ideal situation, working from home, in a dorm room, or maybe at the coffee shop across the street. Times are changing and with that change comes new opportunities to grab experiences without ever stepping foot in an office. Internships.com, which posts more than 8,000 virtual positions, reports a 20 percent increase over the last year. In a survey of 303 employees, the company found that a third offer remote internships or plan to this year.
And it’s not just for students, people wanting to get their hands dirty in a new field could see this as an excellent opportunity to open some new doors and do work on the side. Remote internships often entail working on research projects or social media efforts, usually only requiring a laptop and internet connection. The trade off, however, is the inability to learn those crucial lessons that come from being in professional environments and engaging in corporate culture. (NYTimes)
