Report: Oprah Jumping Into Organic Food Business
6 months ago
The media mogul has filed an application for "Oprah's Organics"
Oprah Winfrey looks to have set her sights on the organic food industry. The New York Post perused the online filings for the US Patent and Trademark Organization and found that several applications for “Oprah’s Organics” were filed late last month.
The filings are reportedly seeking to use the name for healthcare and beauty items like bath soaps, sunscreen, massage oils and hair products. The filings suggest the name will also be used for organic salad dressings and frozen vegetables, soups, beverages and snack dips. Applications for “Oprah’s Farm” for a beverage and catering service and “Oprah’s Harvest” were also submitted for this fall.

Winfrey already owns hundreds of acres in Maui, Hawaii, which include a large farm and a bed and breakfast. A rep for Winfrey told the Post, “The trademarks were filed for Oprah’s farm on Maui to enable the farm to grow and distribute produce on Maui and throughout the Hawaiian Islands.”
