Village Voice got their hands on some disturbing photos illustrating just how bad the violence has become in the infamous prison.

After years of reporting on the anarchy that included "fight clubs" among inmates, guards "deputizing" inmates and allowing them to police themselves, and living conditions unfit for even the worst criminal, the paper now has proof of just how bad things are.
